The Israel and Lebanon War
The Lebanon and Israel War went from the 12th July 2006 to 14th August 2006. It was a 34 day military conflict in Lebanon and northern Israel.

The principal parties were the Israeli military and Hezbollah paramilitary.

Hezbollah was responsible for a raid in 2006 on a border post in Northern Israel in which two Israeli soldiers were taken captive. The abductions sparked an Israeli military campaign against Lebanon to which Hezbollah responded by firing rockets across the Lebanese border into Israel.

Below is a map of the affected areas during the conflict

 What is Hezbollah?

Hezbollah is a Lebanese Islamist organisation. They act like an unofficial government and are a powerful force which are a major provider of social services, which operates in schools, hospitals and agricultural services for thousands of Lebanese Shiites.

Israel and Lebanon war:

Nature of the war:

Prime Minister of Israel Ehud Olmert declared the attack by Hezbollah’s military wing an “act of war”, and promised Lebanon a “very painful and far-reaching response.”

And that is what they got.

Both parties used incredible acts of violence. Attacking, and killing a large amount of civilians on both sides.

There have been rocket attacks, bombings, invasions, tanks and holocausts. People have lost their homes, loved ones, and in some cases their entire block has been demolished. People from northern Israel have fled south with their families and away from the danger.

Casualties:

Lebanese
:

·        Between 481 and 750 were killed.

·        500 to 3200 people wounded

·        over 800,000 have been made refugees

·        Unknown number of missing civilians in the south.

Israeli:

·        36 Israeli soldiers have been killed (including one pilot, killed in a collision between two helicopters, and two in another helicopter crash, also 4 servicemen were killed after INS Hanit was hit),

·        129 wounded.

·        20 civilians have been killed,

418 civilians were treated in hospitals, 19 of whom were seriously injured, and another 875 treated for shock

The previous war that Israel and Lebanon had was caused because the united nations came to the conclusion that Muslims should have their own country (Israel) so they used a portion of Lebanon's country to do this which caused havoc with the Lebanese people. Lebanon was outraged until 12th of july 2006 they'd been having small conflicts but on that date the 2nd Israel and Lebanon war begun.

 Conflict Resoulution-

Israel should never have been formed as a seperate country specifically for the muslims. This conflict has not yet been resolved and many Lebanese civilians still have strong views on this matter.
